WIND can simply be as a result of the air we swallow when eating or talking but it is usually caused by the gases made during the breakdown of food.
Some people produce more wind than others BUT regular and smelly wind is a sign that food has been sitting around in our large intestine for too long; often a sign of constipation.
There are lots of foods that may cause wind - the one's we have found problematic are: broccoli, eggs and dairy ice cream. The foods that surprise me are: cucumber, banana, pretzels and peas!
- Massaging a child along the direction of the large intestine.
- Lying on the floor with your bum in the air, this can help to release the discomfort of both constipation and wind.
- Eating cinnamon - we add it to everything!
